The Institute took part in the European Researchers’ Night

27.09.2025.

On Friday, September 26, Split’s Prokurative turned into a large open-air science square. Hundreds of visitors came to the 20th anniversary edition of the European Researchers’ Night, an event that once a year brings together scientists and the public in a shared spirit of exploration. With numerous stands and workshops, citizens had the opportunity to learn about the latest scientific findings and projects through an interactive and accessible program.

The European Researchers’ Night in Split was organized by the University of Split as part of the international Blue-connect project, with events taking place at Prokurative, the French Alliance, and the Faculty of Law. The manifestation is held simultaneously in many European cities with the same goal: to bring science closer to the general public, especially children and young people, and to show that research can be both fun and useful.

This year as well, our scientists revealed to children many secrets of the sea and its life: from the sounds produced by marine organisms, through fish feeding and body structure, to methods of determining the age of shellfish and corals, as well as the world of invisible bacterioplankton. As part of the program, our scientists also held lectures at the French Alliance on smarter fish farming, underwater sounds and noise in the Adriatic, and the new fish species that have appeared between 2020 and 2025.
