Monitoring of the marine biological resources as part of the National Plan for the collection of data in the fisheries of the Republic of Croatia

DCF is a national program for collecting data related to fisheries. The Institute has been involved in this program since 2013 and, under the Law on Marine Fisheries, is responsible for collecting biological data. The program involves collecting data from commercial fishing vessels (catch composition and by-catch, laboratory processing), as well as through scientific expeditions (MEDITS, MEDIAS, and Solemon). All three of the Institute’s fisheries laboratories are involved in the implementation of this project, and an additional thirty expert collaborators are employed for data collection and processing. The data collected through DCF serves as a basis for creating the fisheries policy of the Republic of Croatia, and Institute scientists also use them for scientific research.
