Tanja Šegvić Bubić, PhD
About
My research interests are to explore the potential synergies and challenges associated with integrating conservation principles into aquaculture practices. By investigating the ecological implications of aquaculture on surrounding marine ecosystems, using several methodological approaches such as visual census, fish tagging, microchemistry, and molecular markers, my research goal is to support sustainable aquaculture, with a focus on biodiversity conservation and habitat preservation.
In my work, the use of molecular markers such as mtDNA, microsatellites, and SNPs has enabled the identification of fish escapees from aquaculture (Dicentrarchus labrax, Sparus aurata, and Seriola dumerili) but also phylogenetics and phylogeographic description of commercially important wild marine species stocks.
Lately, I am actively involved in testing new alternative and more sustainable fish feed ingredients on seabream and seabass growth performances.
