Institute employees at the 16th International Fisheries Fair – Crofish

25.11.2024.

The Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries once again exhibited at the Crofish International Fisheries Fair, which was held in Poreč for the 16th consecutive year. Our employees interacted with visitors at their stand during the three days of the fair, presenting the work of the Institute, our projects, educational workshops and brochures that we use to bring science and marine topics closer to citizens, especially the young audience.

In addition to the popular stand, the Institute’s scientists also appeared in the official program. Dr. sc. Nedo Vrgoč, head of the Laboratory for Fisheries Biology, participated in a panel discussion on the state of Croatian fisheries together with the directors of other Adriatic institutes and representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture.

This year, our scientists were pleased to participate in the program for the audience. Dr. Melita Peharda gave an expert lecture on the topic of shellfish growth in the Adriatic Sea, Dr. Jakov Dulčić spoke to the audience about invasive fish and crustacean species in the Adriatic, and Dr. Vjekoslav Tičina gave a popular science lecture on the fish species little tunny.
