Representatives of the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries participated in the meeting of the BlueDiversity project (eng. Shared BLUE knowledge and skills to sustain BIODIVERSITY in mariculture), which took place in Lecce (Italy).
The two-day meeting was organized by the project leader, the Department of Biology and Environmental Sciences and Technologies of the University of Salento. All project partners participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, the start of the project’s pilot activities, which will take place in the Italian coastal area in the Veneto, Puglia and Marche regions, and in Croatia in the Split-Dalmatia and Dubrovnik-Neretva counties, was agreed in more detail. The pilot projects aim to solve problems related to invasive species and the impact of human activities on the marine environment, as well as to introduce innovative techniques in aquaculture.
The meeting was accompanied by a visit to the Aquatina Research Center for Fisheries and Aquaculture.
