16.04.2025.

On April 2, 2025, at the Park Hotel in Split, the 3rd Meeting of the Aliena Project Partners was held, (ALIgning Efforts to control Non-indigenous species in the Adriatic Sea). A particularly important point of the meeting was the definition of future monitoring activities to target alien species in the pilot areas of the project and the development of a forecasting system through modeling.

The following day, a meeting of the project board was held at the Institute’s premises. Among the topics of the meeting were activities to raise awareness and transfer knowledge about the ALIENA project, including communication activities, the organization of public events, the launch of the application for so-called “citizen science” and an overview of the activities of the individual partners.

Later in the meeting, the representatives of the Institute’s project management, Katarina Božanić Sviličić and Jasna Šiljić, gave a presentation with an overview of the current INTERREG projects at the Institute: UNDERSEA, BLUECONNECT, 3E_FISHING, BLUE_DIVERSITY, CRADLES, IPA_ADRION and THETIS4ADRION.

The official part of the meeting at the Institute ended with a visit to the laboratories involved in the ALIENA project – the Laboratory for Plankton and Shellfish Toxicity and the Laboratory for Chemical Oceanography and Sedimentology. This was followed by a working visit to the pilot area of the ALIENA project (the port of Split), which was very successful, much to the delight of the Italian guests, especially thanks to the beauty of the historic core of Split.
