Laboratory for Benthos Laboratory for Benthos

Laboratory for benthos is a  team of six scientists: the director (Prof. Boris Antolić), three research fellows (Dr. Ivana Grubelić, Dr. Ante Žuljević and Dr. Marija Despalatović) and two junior scientists, PhD-students (Ivan Cvitković and Vedran Nikolić). Find out more about us on the People page.

Our group carries out research on marine macroalgae (red, brown and green algae), seagrasses and various groups of marine invertebrates (echinoids, molluscans, sponges, meiofauna). Research topics are taxonomy, phytosociology, zoosociology, biogeography and ecology. The main part of our research centers on the marine flora and fauna of the central Adriatic Sea.

We also carry out projects that involve monitoring of coastal benthic communities, impact studies and invasive Caulerpa species. The Projects section allows you to find out more about our present and past research. The Publications page offers an overview of our publications.
